The Battle over Content
This post follows The Battle over Content I published a year ago. In summary I wrote in response to Nitot who was offended by the fact that popular blogs are tempted to do advertorials, which completely distorts the spirit of the web. In particular it is an argument to say, at worst with this old scrap of Seguela, the web is a huge mess where there is the worst rumors, which are mounted the worst calumnies, but also in the best case is all simply an argument to say that bloggers and news from the web are worth nothing compared to good journalists who know their job very well.
And working under the orders of Dassault Le Figaro, or more generally in a duck largely dependent on its advertising revenue or exclusivity granted? Who's investigative journalism France to share the Chained Duck who just is not funded by advertising? Person. And we must search the web to find just new ways of doing journalism closer to the people and less close to the power (money, politics) with, for example Rue89 or Bakchich.info (hoping that it survives despite the position on the niche of satirical weeklies Wednesday).
Facing the offensive TV programs free TV 7 days, once the reference in the cottages, is the pick. Nevermind, it was never journalism (no more than Drucker interviews anyway) and there Telerama back to the level among people more demanding, better educated, and blah blah blah. However, I stopped reading it regularly: firstly because it's been 15 years since I have TV, but mostly because I noticed a strong advertising overload after the turn of the redemption by the Group Life-World. Condition for its survival and preservation of its national identity we explained it.
I opened last week Telerama No. 3121 on its cover that makes a folder "Digital television user manual, 52 pages of advice". The report The Italian press on against Berlusconi and the portrait of Patrick Buisson not subject as a reference, but I do not notice it on the spot: despite my critical mind sharp my first look fortunately does not care to judge a priori. In reflecting upon this issue, not substantive, would have no place in 60 million consumers, for example. But it is not testing, critical equipment to watch TV in 2010. A flip through the 52 pages we see essentially a kind of catalog for Fnac dream CSP + to the holiday. All this, again, my critical post that makes me say. The trigger is this pub in the next issue (3122): double-page on the Philips TV Cinema 21:9 (pages 9-10). If you look closer there is already a TV ad for this (and another) on page 2 of the case! It is true that to peddle a screen Cinemascope to 4000 € we must bring the package to reach the CSP + + and make the product under the nose to pick up the desire. It should not be a lot of fetishists Widescreen (actually 2.35 is the ratio of reference format Panavision Telerama teaches us at least) so it should arouse the impulse buy, quick!
short, I to say that the argument to say that the only journalism that counts in a democracy is journalism paper is the pipo. Journalism paper has many lessons to learn from what happens on the internet, as record companies and distributors and publishers of film content. Journalist paper must sell paper, not a public service (and fortunately independence of the question), and to deserve his salary the envy of his colleagues (for an excluded obtained) is more important than admiration.
To follow: a short review of the weight of the pub in Telerama.
