Journalists country convergence: serenity, discomfort and distress in the profession

Several researchers and media observers have been arguing for years that the concentration and convergence of media impact on quality diversity and integrity of information.

This book presents the findings of an extensive survey conducted primarily among journalists employed by Quebecor, Gesca and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Self-censorship, self-promotion, abuse of the public service mission of journalism to satisfy the greed of shareholders, discomfort, distress or professional, are in the program. It appears from this radiograph that journalists would do a better job, but they are often prevented, not by statute, advertisers or political partisanship, but by their own news organization.

For the first time we can draw a portrait of opinions and attitudes of professional journalists who work in the major media conglomerates of Quebec.
