France 2 and Radio-Canada: two conceptions of mediation

Different mediators exist in the media whether in TV or radio news. The common idea is that these mediators are all more or less heirs to traditions in North America. This article proposes, Through the comparison of French and Canadian cases, highlighting the similarities and differences of two models.

In France, the mediation of writing France 2 works through a program every Saturday after the news. This self-reflexive program call from viewers air their grievances vis-à-vis information and chain advertises a reflection on the responsibility of journalists and / or television message. In Canada, the Ombudsman de Radio-Canada operates more like a journalistic accountability mechanism that receives complaints, analyze and decide on well founded. Its decisions are reflected in an annual report that has changed greatly since 1993: shorter but much more widespread, notably on the Internet.

While some similarities exist between these two models, the differences are more numerous. The study we propose will thus highlight the role and function of these two mediators are not identical: the Canadian model approximating a legal procedure, while the French model is simply an area of debate.
